Ashburn is a small city in southern Georgia. The city is 160 miles south of Atlanta and 180 miles west of Savannah. It is positioned in Turner County and serves as the seat of government. According to the United States Census Bureau, Ashburn was populated by approximately 3,737 people in 2016. It is the largest city in Turner County.
Ashburn is in a region of the United States originally inhabited by Native American Indians. Eventually, settlers of European descent arrived in the area and established settlements. Ashburn is named for W. W. Ashburn who purchased a portion of the land that eventually became the City of Ashburn. In 1890, Ashburn became an incorporated municipality.
